Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am so excited my friend turned me on to this. A long time geek, I've always wanted to participate in something like this.

Personally, I think it is arrogant for us to even imagine that we are the only intelligent life in the universe. And we are so far away from the center of the galaxy and so far out time-wise from the big bang that it's hard to imagine that we are the *first* intelligent life out there.

I am not sure what we should say when we find other life out there. I think that our planet is pretty messed up, but I cannot imagine that a life form out there would not be equally messed up in their own way.

Unlike the traditional adage of "if you're truly a scientist then God has no place in your life", I think that science brings me closer to God and I am excited to meet whoever He has created out there for us to meet and I'm glad He gave me the curiosity to be out there searchhing.
