| I am a faculty member in Computer Science at a University in Canada. My masters thesis was about distributed computing, and BOINC is a clever implementation. I\\'m doing whatever I can to support SETI@Home and some other projects, as I think they are important to the world. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I want to find out if there is anyone else out there. Frankly, if there is anyone out there, we will never talk back to them. They are too far away. If we do receive a signal, it could be from a long dead civilization. Even in this worst case, I think the discovery would still be fascinating and would change us all.
