Personal background |
I am 58 years old and Live in Newcastle, England. I have always had the idea that there has to be more out there than just us. I've been into sci-fi, since I first started reading Isaac Asimov way back in the 60's.
I hated being sent to Sunday school and was always the odd one out asking intolerable questions about the bible which I think is just another book and not something that should rule your life.
I never let it bother me that space is so big and just goes on forever. Well it has to hasn't it? If you came to the end and there was a brick wall, I'd be the one asking what was on the other side of the wall.
The other thing that I just cannot comprehend is that we are the only species doing what we are doing. So many galaxies, with so many stars and we are the only ones......... hmmmmm......... doesn't compute in tiny little brain. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I believe SETI is one of the most important projects that we have ever started on this planet of ours. Basically for the reasons I give in my personal background. The odds against us being alone are just too astromonical to make any sense.
The amount of information that SETI is gaining from space is enormous and every bit of it needs to be checked and looked at. Becasue of the amount of data it would be impossible in terms of cost alone not to have people like me sitting with my pc at home not being fully utilised not to take take part in the project.
I believe that more advertising of SETI @ Home should be done to encourage more people throughout the world to take part. |
