Profile: Frank

Personal background
I am a 28-years-old student of physics at RWTH Aachen University in Germany. Aachen (also known by its French name Aix-la-Chapelle) is also the city where I was born in 1977. It is the most western city of Germany (and of course of its federal state North Rhine-Westphalia), at the border triangle between Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Some of you (even if you do not live in Germany) might have heard of Aachen before, since it was the European capital when Charlemagne (whose bones are kept as relics in the Charlemagne shrine at the High Cathedral of Aachen) reigned his empire.

During my free time, I take every chance I get to meet my friends. Some of my hobbies are swimming (just for fun), riding my bike, reading. For many years I have been chief of the district of Aachen at Young Christian Workers (international catholic youth organisation).
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Even as a physicist-to-be (and I know that most physicists nowadays are considered to be very pessimistic for that matter), it is my strong believe that there actually IS extraterrestrial intelligence out there in space. For that reason I run SETI@home.
