Personal background
I have had a life long interest in the potential of human beings to use technology to work together.

The gun was once called the "great leveller" in a very negative way. I believe that technology, inasmuch as it helps us to achieve a greater perspective, has the potemtial to become the "great leveler" of society in a positive way.

I am Canadian, middle aged, host a web site devoted to the Golden Rule, and hope that my small computing time donation will, in combination with millions others, provide the resources to answer the questions posed by the wide range of projects involved here.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that the question of what form intelligent life has taken elsewhere in the universe is paramount to our ability to set aside once and for all the human-centric idea of universal sentience.

My views? That we need to expand the ways in which we look for indications of life, to imagine the unlikely and test for the improbable.
