Profile: Lars Baehren

Personal background
As of january 1st 2004 I started working here at ASTRON as junior scientist at the Radiosterrenwacht. I am involved in the data processing for the LOPES/KASCADE experiment in Karlsruhe and the Initial Test Station (ITS) of the LOFAR telescope.

Academic education I received at Bonn University, studying physics with astronomy as minor subject. To some good proportion this direction taken has been a continuation of interests held for a long time. While the focus in physics for a while shifted towards particle and accelerator physics, the major influence lately were the lectures on theoretical physics (electrodynamics, quantum theory) and aperture synthesis in radio astronomy. Both interests were combined in the diploma thesis on VLBI observations of gravitational lens systems, supervised by Peter Schneider (IAEF, Bonn).
