My Personal View is that Humans should send out a small fleet of ships. Small robotic rocket propelled craft, with only the very basics on them, a small cheap guidence system, and a message. A small plaquque, similar to that carried on the voyager probes, and a voice message saying:
"We, the people of Earth, Extend the hand of friendship to you, the people of a world far from our own. We send you this greeting as we begin a new age of our deveolpment, as we stard to tread the road that many have tread before us, and many will tread afer us. The road to the stars."
Several hundered of these rockets will be fired at the nearest stars.
