Profile: Mark Zatorski

Personal background
My name is Mark, I'm 53 yrs old, about 5'10" tall with blue eyes and I still have bright red hair. I'm trying to lose weight.

I have always been fascinated by astronomy. I read a lot. I like to cook, and at one time I was an icon painter. I had 2 shows of my work in the 1980s which were well received. I may become active again painting icons, but that depends on a lot.

I am a news freak, especially for alternative radio.

As I believe all is vanity, I thought it still might be entertaining, or useful, to participate in the Seti Project. We can't be alone. However, I'm not sure we have defined sentience. Are some other animals who inhabit Earth sentient? Maybe we should look in our own back yard first.

There is also the idea that if we were contacted by an extra stellar intelligence, would we really be able to communicate with them. I'm not so sure we could. Humans have a hard time communicating with each other, without provoking destruction and violence. Unless some radical changes are made in how we live and take care of the space we live in on our finite Earth, humanity has no future. In the 21st century half the human race (women) are still treated as some kind of inferior beings, with the same status as cattle, or lower. If we were rid of this toxic cultural value, and others, we would probably be plying our own system, if not deep space, in starships by now.

Still, I pretend to be optimistic. Maybe extra-terrestrials will save us from ourselves.

Peace to you all, from Mark and my cat, whom I am convinced is self-aware, named Obudai.
