Profile: Tamaal

Personal background
Born in NE India, raised in Britain(England, Scotland and Wales), currently in the North Island of New Zealand. In my mid-40s, presently "between jobs" (as the saying goes!), I hold a Bachelor's degree in English and History and a postgraduate diploma in Information Systems, with programming experience in BASIC, Cobol and Pascal(anyone remember them?).

My overwhelming hobby at the moment is being a chronic Netizen, something of a surfaholohic, but I have found time in the past to learn to read so I adore Shakespeare and Milton, as well as more modern, new-fangled authors like Thackeray, Hemmingway, Asimov, Tolkien, etc.

In ancient times, before Cds, I collected VINYL records, literally ranging from Mozart to Motorhead, with the likes of Neil Diamond, Jean Michel Jarre and The Stranglers tucked in randomly between.

I'm something of a newshound so I refuse to watch TV or listen to the radio and rarely read the paper.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
From Captain Kirk's earliest outing, I have always been interested in splitting the infinitive! Also, I truly believe that "we are not alone" and not ina Scully & Mulder sense, either) so I'm more than happy to donate whatever little mite I can to possibly finding Them Out There. Especially since it doesn't interfere in any way with my activities (or lacks thereof).
