I live in Montreal, Canada and am 23 years old. I enjoy surfing the net and playing the newest online games and trying out new things available on the net also. If you see or find a Wildhund on Battlenet for Warcraft or Diablo, that is most probably me. My hobbies are computers and new technologies, playing golf on the beautiful summer days with friends and space science and exploration.

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

FEBRUARY 2002:
The first time I saw the SETI program running was on a PC at school and I just thought it was some bogus screen saver pretending to do some good. Then 6 months later I see it on my neighbour's PC (member PAF077) and he tells me the thing is real and that 3 million people use it and showed me the website. As soon as I saw that it helped in Extraterrestrial life search and all the computer-stats from all the users I was hooked! HAHA
Now I have my P3 450 running it almost all the time to try to beat him, but he has it on 2 powerful Pcs at home and some at work I'm sure! He's the 2nd or 3rd best guy of his day, Jan25 2002. I'll upgrade to a 1530 Mhz AMD this spring; so I'll get 3 times more work done for you guys! HAHA
When I got my first unit done I beat 33% allready; that's a bit too bad tho, and now I'm at 11 units and 61%. So out of the 3.5 million subscribed users; 1.4 million do the work. :)
Maybe SETI should send an automated email to people that haven't sent a unit after 2 months and then remove them from the site if the email is invalid or the person doesn't want to continue; to try to keep more active members on the site.
JULY 2002 update:
I upgraded to a Pentium4 2.2 Ghz and have two 1Ghz PCs at work working on SETI and now I can make up to 12 Units a day. Now I'm at 436. And my neighbour is by far the 1rst now on his day with 4300 units allready! |
