| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

When I first heard of the SETI project and that anyone can be involved in this important project through the use of their computer, I immediately knew that I had to be a part of this.
We humans are a curious bunch. We never stop asking questions, exploring the unknown, and expanding our minds. If it wasn't for this need to explore, then the great explorers like Columbus, Hudson, Lewis & Clark, etc. would not be known to history. Who knows what history will write about the SETI project. Maybe 10, 20, 30 years from now, children in school will read about SETI and how some thought it was a crazy idea. But these children will know that SETI satisfied our need to explore and expand our horizons and that the successful discovery of other "intelligent" life could not have come about without the hard work of all those who have made SETI the success it is. |
