Personal background
I have been a seti@home users since 2002 when I was a student at UMIST. I am currently employed as a software developer.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Im not sure if intellegent life exists outside this planet however I think we should be looking for it. I think the benifits of contacting a more advanced race would almost certainly outweigh the benifits.
I got interested in seti@home more to do with understanding the distributed computing side. The possible scale of the computing project was impressive when I started and now the figures are truly incredible, all that computing power from a screen saver.
