Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I'm pretty sure that intelligent life exists beyond our planet, the odds of being alone in the universe are overwhelmingly small (unless you assume that all intelligence needs the exact same conditions to live in as we do, but isn't that one hell of an assumption?)

Will we discover it or will it discovr us? There isn't a bit of doubt in my mind that there will be contact, and knowing the human nature that will have dramatic consequences (the good old "we don't know what it is, so lets assume it wants kill us and kill it first" mentality)

SETI is an admirable initiative, but it can take quite some time before it gets results, luckily there are plenty of ppl out there that volunteer some cycles to help this cause... Still I doubt that there will be undeniable proof found during my lifetime (unless there is another major technological breakthrough)
