Personal background
I'm a geek with an interest in anything in the broad field of science including communications, electronics, computers, biology, physics, and astronomy. I may not be an expert in most of these fields (Heck, I know close to nothing in some areas!), but I do enjoy reading any related technical articles. At the time of writing (6/20/2002) I am 21 and reside in the Chicago area. I work for a small company that gives competition to the telecommunication industry. It's a long, difficult, uphill battle, but the law is on our side for the most part.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Why do I have SETI@Home running on all my home and work computers? Because it only uses spare CPU cycles that would otherwise be wasted. I would rather contribute to a project that I believe has the potential to make critical scientific discoveries than see the cycles go to waste.

Why do I believe we will eventually find intelligent life (Comparable to us or more intelligent) outside of our planet? The universe is incredibly huge. Our minds can't begin to comprehend just how enormous it is. We exist which means there's a chance for intelligent life in the universe. The chance for intelligent life would have to be so incredibly small to outweigh the amount of room there is for intelligent life. It's simply logical to conclude that we're not alone. Today we're blind. One day we will open our eyes and see a whole different reality.
