Profile: Papagus

Personal background
Old Cowboy, deckhand, gandydancer, roustabout, bounty hunter, and now a sit-on-the-porch and spit type. I have an acerbic sense of humor, a pithy way with words, and entirely too damned much time on my hands.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I sure as hell hope so. It would be a waste of several universes to be the only species capable of looking up and wondering what and who was out there. I think they will discover us, or already have, and are waiting for us to grow the hell up.
Dangers? Shoot, they have nothing to fear from us but our politicians and religious leaders. Lots of us will welcome them, and more than a few will be buying lots of toilet paper.
Benefits. I suppose discovery of intelligent life would shake the very foundations of our moribund society. We would be forced to face the fact that our little corner of the universe is no more or less than a very small insignificant and somewhat backward neighborhood that should not be explored after sundown.
