Profile: Murla

Personal background
I am from the city that is home to the Univ of Illinois. I retired early from the Dept of CS a few years ago. I am currently pursuing studies in Native American medicine. I have a Blue Heeler named appropriately Malibu and I call her Bu most times. She's fourteen and slowing down some but keeps me out there walking the streets. (Me n U n a dog named Bu). I read a lot, most recent book Monkey about the adventures of a Chinese Immortal, most recent mag Smithsonian. My favorite TV news is BBC at 5pm, Charlie Rose at 11p, favorite series Mystery! or Masterpiece Theatre. I work crossword puzzles, New York Times Easy Sunday are my favorite but that doesn't mean I can always finish it. For weather, I subscribe to the sunspot activity for possible Aurora Borealis (which I have seen this far south - 40 north - 14Dec06) and I keep an eye on the New Madrid fault earthquake activity to see when that 'big one' might hit the Mississippi/Ohio River Valley. Pretty ordinary gal really.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because I like the graphics better than my old Wiley Coyote. I'm currently pondering the ancient Greek/Roman mythologies and their root in Sumerian myths and the possibility that these giants may have been visitors in our more recent past. I like things that allow me to think outside the box. Seeing the SETI graphics reminds me there are more avenues to explore.
