Profile: Dominic Norriss

Personal background
I was born at the tail end of 1971 in West London, England. I have lived around London all my life in towns including Tooting, Streatham, Kingston and currently Hampton Court, although not in the palace I'm sorry to say. I have been married since October 2003 and look forward to travelling through lifes adventures with my beautiful wife and (hopefully) kids. I have a sister who lives with her husband (thoroughly nice bloke) in Paris, France and a brother who has recently moved to Japan. My brother and I had the honour of giving our sister away at her wedding in Paris in May 2004 which was an incredible experience I will never forget. It was right up there with my best experiences ever in fact it was second only to my own wedding!!! I used to be an athlete and competed at international level until a knee injury cut short what was looking like a promising high jump career. I have since been trying to find an alternative career and am presently managing a day service for People with Learning Disabilities. This line of work still provides me with enough challenges to satisfy my needs but I am thinking about the future which is why I am also studying Systems Analysis with Computeach International. One day I would love to work for a Formula 1 team. My hobbies are cycling, computers, Formula 1 and drinking. A friend of mine and I are planning a cycling trip from England to Spain but this is for the future as he is currently finishing his Architecture course in Canada.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I love the idea of so many computers working towards a common goal, a goal that could one day change the face of humanity. I watch with baited breath the experiments with String Theory and really hope there are some exciting discoveries made within my lifetime. I am interested not only in what is out there but how might we get there, bending space does my head in though! Is there life "out there"?? Who knows but with technological advancements progressing at pace the next few hundred years could be extremely exciting. I'm not surprised however that any ET life chooses not to reveal itself, if I saw a planet in as much turmoil as Earth is in it would put me off too.
