Personal background
I'm a Jack of all trades.
In the beginning their was Darkness then Light, :-) and then I popped out,- at some Air Force Base Hospital, in Mountain Home, Idaho. Incidentally the day I was born, an Atom bomb was exploded, probably explains my ESP abilities. :-)
As would be expected, my family moved around a lot, from one base to another. I didn't do well in school, finding it boring, waiting for the teacher to get to the point.
Joining the US Army, I pulled 8yrs, with most of it in Germany, as Combat Support, for an Armor Battalion. Originally I was destined for Vietnam, at the tail end of the Police Action. :-). I was Trained as a Seamen on US Army Water Craft, when I finished Boot Camp, and AIT., The Boat I was to crew on sank, and was not replaced. Lucky me.
Deciding I didn't want to shoot anyone without good reason -- and being an NCO, I was tired of acting like a prison guard to the enlisted men who had no true loyalty, or desire to serve our Country.
Upon my reentry into mainstream USA. I went to a nice Community College that specialized in Marine Science Technology, I messed up to much, trying to work full time, and take a full credit load. Any way I was shy 1 year, of a 3 year program. I was offered a chance to work as a Biology Assistant at NOAA. Working out of Alaska for the Northwest Fisheries Marine Mammal Department. I found out I was a lousy Cook when out in the field. :-) For one year did some lab work out of the NOAA facility at Sandpoint way, Seattle. I left their after my contract was not renewed, probably, my arguing over my Data results being changed by one of the project leaders had something to do with that.
Hate being on welfare, I worked as a Security Guard for a couple of yrs, killing time, I then latched onto a job as a Metro Access Bus driver, transporting Seniors and the Disabled, and I've been doing that up to now.
I have always been a SCI-FI fanatic. I can still remember my first Science Fiction book that I read, Robert Hienlin's "Planet M
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home

I want to add that I'm not one to think because life has the ability to reach us that it is automatically Gentle and to be considered friendly. Nor am I a shoot first and ask Questions later sort of guy. I think any ET's that do come to visit our area, need to earn our respect and trust. Of Coarse I'm sure their is a Scientific Method in place to protect us from the Darth Vaders that may be out there. Right?----- Right?????? LOL If not,- no hole will be deep enough.
So I would think it is in our best interest to find ET first, rather than vice versa. No, I don't think we need shout to the Universe our location, no more than we do without trying. Unless it's an SOS call for a doomed people, already.
Only suggestion I have is maybe creating a Holiday, called SETI Day. Were one reaches out and ponders the meaning of life and as a reminder, That the truth is out there. :-)
