Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1.

Yes, theres a lot of wasted space out there if there isn't anything else but us. Contact with extraterrestrials could be good or bad, it simply depends on what kind of "people" we make contact with.

2.

Why add another transmission when whoever is out there can tune in to the already abundant radio signals coming from our planet.

3.

I run SETI@Home because it gives my computer a good task to perform while I am not using it. Seeing as the watercooling system doesn't like to sit around and be inactive, the computer stays on until it needs a reboot or hardware upgrade.
