Profile: Mark Dormer

Personal background
I live in Sydney Australia
I work as an Systems Integrator, which means I actually do stuff.
Used to be a Telecommunications Technician, but I loved PC's, so I taught myself all about them.
Currently running a Test Lab, putting 900 applications through testing on Windows 2000.
Before that I was running infrastructure programs, managing installation of network hardware, Cat5, NOS, etc.

I went to Microsft in Redmond in December. Wow
I recently spent a month working in Papua New Guinea.
I am married, no children for the moment.
We are fortunate to have two dogs, Clem and Gypsy who tolerate us living here as well.

In my spare time I like to play with PC's, eat, walk, surf and hang out in peer to peer support newsgroups.
I was fortunate enough to be given an MVP award by MS for doing the latter.

A few years have passed since I wrote that. 2 kids now and no dogs.
These days I work as an ICT Manager for a part of the government.
Have a dog and a cat. Kept the 2 kids as they are little treasures.

Hi Luke, James.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Is there life out there?
I don't know.
I know they would be smart enough to avoid us.

Seriously, to imagine we are the only sentient ones in the vastness of this universe would be arrogance of an extreme nature.
