Personal background
I am an Army Infantryman, currently serving as a Drill Sergeant. I have been a science fiction fan since '77, when the original Star Wars movie came out. I first learned about SETI while on a Scouting Jamboree at Ft. Irwin in the '80s. We were able to visit the SETI research facility there. (I am unsure if it is still there) It was very interesting. I learned about the SETI at home program from one of my soldiers who was running in on his laptop (around 2000). I ran it for a while on my home pc, and am now starting back up again.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am not only a sci fi buff, but an aviation and space exploration buff as well! I am interested in the possibility of life "out there". I think SETI is a good project, and that is why I am helping out. Besides, I don't think it would be fair to reap any benefits we might gain from what SETI accomplishes without helping in some way.
