Personal background |
Hello, I'm a 24 year old guy from Dublin, Ohio. I graduated from Muskingum University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.
In my real life (which is what I'm doing while BOINC runs) I'm an HPUX Sysadmin for a major cell phone company. I enjoy networking, computer programming, gaming, technical theater production, spending time with my brothers in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia when I get a chance to visit, photography, and small shiny objects (just kidding... kinda).
I run BOINC on my desktop rig, which changes configurations frequently. Currently it is a Corsair Carbon 500R case, ASUS M5A99X-EVO motherboard, 16GB RAM, AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor (overclocked a bit), 2x eVGA GTX550Ti GPUs SLIed, and liquid cooling for the CPU (big fans for the rest). All running Win7 x64 from an OCZ Vertex 60GB SSD. |
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
My motivation for running BOINC is simple: I never turn off my computer, and why have it sit there doing nothing when I could be helping to find ET, and cure diseases? I also find that on the rare day when I have disabled BOINC, my room is much colder than it would be, which is mildly annoying considering that Ohio winters are pretty stout. |
