Profile: Jay Gordon

Personal background
My name is Jay Gordon, I am a Staff Sergeant in the US Army. I got involved in SETI@home around 1999. I ran it on about 500 machines that I had access to as part of my job at the time. I found it interesting that P2P was being used in a manner that helped society as a whole rather than to just download music and porn.
SETI@home is a great way to use all the spare time that computers have. Most of the time, unless you telecommute, you keep your computer on and it sits and does nothing. I like to think that the money that I spent for my computer isn't being wasted just drawing power. I hope that one day I can get one of those e-mails that says I found ET, but until then I'll just keep pluging away.

"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country.
He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."
- Attributed to General George Patton Jr
