Profile: Phlipper

Personal background
Hi, I'm Michael Kenneth Phipps, I'm 19 years of age at the time of writing this "Profile", I currently reside in Kingswood, Bristol in the South West of England.
My hobbies include the usual stuff; watching T.V (Films, Sports, Reality Shows, Comedy, Makeover Shows, and such), listening to music (mostly alternative stuff, Linkin Park, Green Day, Eminem, and such), Reading (Classics, Comedy, Travel, Magazines, Newspapers, and such), drinking (Lager), eating (Fish And Chips), Sleeping (Alot) and, umm, well dabbling on the old computer (Games, Surfing The Web, Chatting, Downloading (Movies and Music), and such).
At this time I am in a state of unemployment, unfortunately intellectuals are not appreciated anymore, and the old saying, "It's not what u know but who you know that matters." comes into play and only the people who have worked before can get anywhere, rather than the ones who have stayed in education wishing to better themselves, who, can't get a damn thing.
I'm 5'11", I have a large muscular build, I have dark brown hair which varies in length as the mood takes me, I have hazel eyes, I wear glasses as I am blind as a bat without them and I have quite a good tan all year round; and that's me in a nutshell.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I am a very open-minded person, I have no definite or passoinate thoughts or opinions on the whole E.T debate, I am the type of person who has to see it to believe it, however thinking about it, in this case I am not sure whether or not I really do wanna see it, who knows what is out there, who knows how "IT" may react to Human communication or interaction, of course who knows what "IT" may have that may benefit us as a developing race, and, who know what we may have that could benifit "IT" as a ????? (whatever you wish to say).
The main benefit of such a discovery in the near future will be our generation will be remembered for something of major significance, there was the wheel, electricity, communication, space exploration, we could be the generation who discovered we are not the only "ones" out there and that there is in fact E.T life and all the myths are in fact true, that would be amazing.
On the idea of transmitting a beacon, it could be dangerous, say there is other life out there and we start sending out signals, who knows what the reaction could be, however if we were to do so, we should send messages of peace and intrigue to discover and interact with other lifeforms and send a list of our discoveries and resources that could be of use should contact be made.
As I said I am not as you would say, passionate, about the whole E.T 'thing' but a good friend of mine has been running the program for quite a while and started telling me about the project and everything and got me intrigued, so I figured why not lend a hand, my computer sits there idly doing nothing so why not use that wasted time and power productively and help out with something of interest such as this.
Everything seems to be good so I don't really think I can make any suggestions plus I wouldn't be able to set-up and run anything like this so I take my hat off to you and add, keep up the good work, hope there is success at the end of it for us all.
