Profile: Cedric M Mallia

Personal background
I am from Malta, and live in Malta. My interest in astronomy derives from the beauty that I awe at when I look at the sky on a cloudless night, preferably from some location where light is not so strong, and these are becoming more difficult to find locally.

I wish that the CPU cycles being devoted to this project shall bear some results, especially from my PC, since it is already buckled under all the apps I run.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think that such a big universe (just the one we know) is a terrible thing to waste on just one small planet, inhabited by a species that have yet to learn how to take care of it properly. Hopefully meeting alien species should broaden our horizons, or at least bring us together as a planet in the realization that we are NOT the centre of the universe.

I strongly believe we should transmit a beacon. This should have encoded information as to where to find us, but not what to find. Hopefully this will weed out the other with less than amiable intentions.

I run SETI@home to do my share in helping expand our horizons, possibly also if we make contact with alien civilisations, we may get to learn faster what we are researching right now, including better space travel possibilities. I gladly dedicate all my idle CPU cycles to this project, and occasionally my non-idle ones as well.
