Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Welcome to my little bit-o-drizzel on the web, I'm running seti on 2 pc's (1GHz Athlon and a P200 Pro).
I think seti will eventualy pickup a message but I doubt it will contain any important or intelligable information (after all the encryption in pay TV would have out foxed our best minds in the 1940's).
Two way comunication with ET's wont happen till some one works-out how to perform super-light communications (exploiting a trick in quantum physics that allows instant 'teleportation' or light).
ET visitors are plausable only because they could be several thousand years in advance of us (look how far we have come since 0AD), unless we are the smartest beings in the universe (scarry thought).
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
