Profile: Cheri A. Reynolds

Personal background
I'm originally from St. Anthony, Idaho but have lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, Buffalo, New York and now live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I'm 31 years old (born in Feb '74). My career field is computers; I do consulting and have a wide-ranged IT background, including programming, analysis, networks, databases, web development, etc. I have many hobbies. I love to read! I especially like classical literature and classical children's literature. I study personality analysis and would like very much to return to school to study it more formally.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I really enjoy being part of a research effort involved in furthering the understanding of mankind. I have always been somewhat facinated with space and my favorite class in high school was Astro Physics. I would be an amature astronomist if I could manage to stay up late enough and had a telescope. Someday, I hope to get one. Although the idea of finding life outside of our world is interesting, I feel it's very important to explore our universe and learn as much about it as possible. I've watched and been involved in the Seti program since 1999 and I think it's a great project! I would like to learn more about or get some "layman" information on what the numbers and data that my computer is processing mean. I'm sure there some kind of space dust, meteors or radiation or something that's probably in my data, and although old news to the researchers, it would be facinating to me to know how to "view" the data my client processes, or to know where within the sky relative to me it would be.
