Personal background
Hello everybody!
I'm an Italian young PhD student in Astronomy... I've always been fascinated by the possibility of alien life, since I was 10, when my teacher showed in our classroom the best sci-fi movie ever: 2001 - a space odyssey. Since then, I watched each and every alien movie, but when I saw "Contact" I was so excited that I started searching everywhere for more information about the SETI project... and when I bought a computer and was able to access the net, well... here I am!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
The "Contact" book by Carl Sagan explains wonderfully every risk and every potential benefit involved in the discovery of alien life. Personally, I am pretty sure about the existence of alien civilizations... here on Earth, life seems to colonize even the hardest places, so, why shouldn't be so in our Galaxy?
