Personal background
I'm a fortyish ex-sailor who now lives inland. Traveled most of Europe and North America, and spent a lot of time at sea. Out on the ocean, a lot can be seen in a real clear night sky. While most could be explained, there are some things that just had no explanation. Were they visitors from outside our planet? Hope so...
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
We will be contacted when they are ready, and not before. Yup, there are benefits, and dangers, and that depends on who contacts us first and what kind of courtesy and respect we demonstrate towards them... And if they have been watching us lately, it may be awhile before they contact us. Really, who wants to walk into the middle of a family feud? :-)

While most of what is broadcasted is already radiating away from our planet, the question is more about how we could broadcast a distinct beam to all reaches of the galaxy. Time intensive, and a good idea...

I run Seti to volunteer a little time to the science of contact, and as a gesture of good will. We'll never find what we don't seek...

Peace
