Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Does life exist elsewhere? Of course it does, it would be arrogant and ignorant to think otherwise. Mankind is NOT the top species in the universe. If it were then heaven help the rest of the planets.

Should we transmit a beacon? Yes we should. Why should we expect extraterrestrials to come to us, why not go out and meet them? The message should be one signifying a peaceful, friendly reception to those that would present the same but allowing more hostile intelligences to know that we can and will defend ourselves if provoked.

We should also get off our very crushed laurels and get further into the universe and start exploring it. It's about time that we achieved another leap in technological development similar to that which occurred in July 1969 to allow us to get to, land on and return from the moon (if it really did happen and was not a fabrication by the US government).

This project is extremely worthwhile and should be maintained ad infinitum whether contact is made or not. I am realistic that there are budgets to be adhered to but funding MUST continue. We do our part by relieving that financial burden slightly but the core project MUST be financed.
