Personal background
I believe life must exist elsewhere in our galaxy and I'm proud to support SETI. My only wish is that my effort will help in the discovery of life beyond Earth during my lifetime.

During the day (well, night since I work evenings) I am a mild-mannered technician with a pharmaceutical company living in North Carolina. My secret identity is that of a struggling writer/artist/photographer trying to find myself through creativity. I write an on-line column on geology for Suite101.com (http://www.suite101.com/welcome.cfm/everyday_geology) and I have developed a web site to highlight my creative side and to develop an on-line geologic dictionary and other geology tools at http://www.geocities.com/paleogeoff/.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Life must exist elsewhere in the galaxy/universe. The numbers are too staggering. We have found such a variety of life on Earth in the past few decades living in places scientists would never have imagined (or theorized). We have also confirmed the existence of planets around other stars. Combined, these two recent discoveries almost guarantee that life, in some form, exists beyond Earth.
