Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As the sun sets, we lie back on the pebbly shore and gaze up at the stars, a thousand millions tiny points of light. Among these nuclear furnaces, one has its brightness added to by a more primitive light. The inhabitants of its planet, fearing darkness, huddle around small fires or scurry around dark woods gathering kindling.

But all this was ten thousand years ago.

I glance across at her, and see the moonlight glint in her eyes. In ten thousand years, that glint may reach a pair of lovers lying on that alien beach, as they share the same thoughts.

In this moment, I see the beauty of the universe.
