Personal background
I am a retired computer technician, born in 1941.
I am married, live near Hastings Ontario Canada,
and have one living child, and two grandchildren.

I spent 5 years in the RCAF and have since held a
number of positions. I am a member of OACETT and
joined the Quarter Century club in 1995.

Since childhood, I have always been interested
in whether we have 'neighbours' or were we alone in
the universe.

I joined the SETI project very shortly after it
went public, as I had heard about the project for
some time, and had to wait until the beta tests
were completed.

I run SETI@Home on a single computer, a Pentium IV
(Willamette) based system clocked at 1600 MHz and
running 24 * 7.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I have hopes that we will detect a signal from another star system,
or even from a passing space ship. Any extraterrestrial signal
will do, because it will for once and ever prove that we are not
the only action on the block.

As for US signalling THEM? Too late to worry. They already
can see us - with all our lumps and warts exposed. Hopefully
they will watch long enough to allow some of the more recent
sensible programs to arrive and thus see that we did not
destroy ourselves.
