Profile: step2000

Personal background
Well....Hmmmm 43 years old living in Montgomery, IL. USA

I'm the owner of 3 companies each a little different but having roots in computers for each.

http://www.step2000.net/me.html is our webcam area and also Seti items.

Being a programmer and science nerd I guess is why we have seti running all the time.
We look because to find is our drive in life, software and the answer! ET we are looking.........!

Also the Screen Saver is really Cool!!!!

Being smart doesn't always mean you have the answer!

Wow finally we broke the 12Hr mark.... We for the first year or so ran SETI on a 233 Mhz system only and it took for ever to process a work unit. We are finally moving with Ghz and process 26 units a day. We are hoping to get to the 20K mark and then scale back.

When you need to make leaps in software just take a STEP with STEP2000 Software.....
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
1. How and when....? AMDZONE sent me and our two year birthday with SETI@HOME was 4/28/2002 and we keep crunching for SETI. You can be a SETI cruncher with the use of the extra clock cycles. We have hit the following high spots a long the way:

10000 units on 11/12/2002

5000 units on 1/15/2002

Next is 12500 which should be late Feb. 2003.

2. Why do we do it....? We search because we need answers. The SETI project is great technologies working and working well! I enjoy helping make a mark for the people of earth to see what we can't.

3. ET....? Well it would seem to reason that with all that's in the sky, there may be more. I remember that Christopher Columbus thought he would fall from the edge of the earth and never find the new world.... WOW guess that tells it all!

4. Should we transmit a signal, would be cool but what would you send? I hope someday soon we can develop a signal that could be sent that would convey what we all are about.

If you think about it long enough then you'll get the answer you seek!

Remember even smart people do stupid things but they always seem to have the answers!

SETI's has smart people, and we feel they have some pretty cool answers and have come up with even more questions along the way.

Should you start/continue efforts with SETI@HOME?

Good question and maybe you'll seek an answer, as we have...try it, its just un-used clock processing on your system.

Hey SETI got something else to crunch we hit our goal of 10,000 for you on 11/12/2002 and would love to start something new! (WHATS NEXT?)
Look over there....it's a.....darn just a human.......
