I am a Systems Administrator for Sun, SGI, and Windows platforms at L-3 Communications Integrated Systems in Waco, TX.
I'm running Seti on a Compaq W6000 workstation with Dual 1.7Ghz Pentium 4 proccessors and 1GB of RDRAM. My machine runs SETI almost 24/7.
Sometime I run Seti on an SGI Octane if I have a spare sitting around. (See the SGI Freeware page for that)
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Do you think extraterrestrial life exists? - Yes
Should humans transmit a beacon for others to find? - Yes
Why do you run SETI@home? - To give my spare proccessing power to science and save tax dollars if possible.
SETI@home and Astropulse are funded by grants from the National Science Foundation, NASA, and donations from SETI@home volunteers. AstroPulse is funded in part by the NSF through grant AST-0307956.
