Yes I think it's possible extraterrestrial life does exist. Possibly not the way we imagine it would be.
How and when we will discover it? Who knows?
Possible benifits...The knowledge that there will be more other life out there! The benifit is in knowing. After that, anything else is extra.
Dangers? Well I get enough of that just crossing the streets here!
As to should humans transmit a beacon for others to find. Why not.
What information should be sent? Most likely a simply "Hello and Please Respond". c,")
I run the SETI@home because the possibility is there. I like the project and it does make an interesting screensaver to say the least!...lol.
