Profile: Patrick A. Davis

Personal background
I am thirty one years old and work as a network administrator at a community health care facility. It's a very challenging enviornment and I love it! I enjoy many different hobbies including astronomy, playing the piano and drums, riding motorcycles, and spending quality time with my wife and two dogs. Life is good!
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I absolutely believe that extraterrestrial life exists elsewhere in our universe. The question for me isn't if but rather, when and where we'll find it. The discovery of intelligent life beyond Earth will have a profound effect on so many aspects of our day to day lives. Everything from science to religion and even philosophy wil be challenged in ways that are nearly inconceivable to many of us. How will we deal with such an Earth shattering discovery? I believe that the whole of humanity will have questions regarding our distant neighbors that will take thousands more years to answer than did the original question of our own universal solitude. In fact, we might not be the ones to make that discovery at all. What an interesting turn of events that would be. I am a creationist who believes in God. I have a somewhat different view of things for a person with this background though. I believe that the Holy Bible was early man's interpretation of what science will ultimately prove. I believe that God set in motion a chain of events that led to what we are today. This is why I have know problems believing ETI exists and will be found eventually. It is an important area of scientific research that will further our understanding of the universe and that which created it.
