Personal background
Hi

At the moment I am a 17 year old guy studying for my A-levels at Collingwood college England and have recently joined the many users of SETI.

A while ago now a friend of mine told me about SETI and said I should check it out well now I have, and to be honest I can really appreciate where its coming from. I fell that the team effort of many users working towards a single goal is a great idea and I would love to meat the creator of the system so that I could shake their hand.

I live in the England but have joined the Colorado group at SETI. This is because less than a year ago now I started an exchange trip with my college and a school in Denver Colorado. This has been one of the greatest learning experiences of my life and has changed who I am, I fell in love with the state and the people who live there. I often dream and plan of going back to visit all the people I met.

To summarise me as a person, I’m outgoing and enjoy a challenge. I enjoy skating and many forms of the sport I also SCUBA dive and enjoy the study of mythology. Once I leave college, I plan on training to become an officer in the royal navy.

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
SETI is a brilliant idea, ok so the possibility of other forms of life close to home is remote even less so when you mean intelligent life and one that can receive or transmit radio signals in the same way as we do. On the other hand, what if there is and what if you are the one to find it, isn’t the possibility worth a shot? All you have to do is leave a program running on your computer not as if it requires much effort.

As for a beacon, I see no reason why not, again it’s a matter of the shear possibility that something may find it, put one in orbit or on the moon and leave it there, that’s all there is to it so year its worth a shot I think.

In short whats the harm in trying?
