Personal background
Musician, photographer, writer, artist, thinker, dreamer... Life is about finding a balance and being happy while you're here... My music helps me find and achieve that balance.
I am also a photographer and traveler and have driven alone all over the United States and traveled through a lot of Europe. I have driven to upstate New York, down to South Beach Miami, Chicago, and I have driven to California twice; once to Long Beach L.A. area, and once to Santa Cruz. I have documented these travels and other things that have captured my attention at my spot at:

My journeys have taken me to some intense places physically and spiritually. As much as I have learned, I am still finding myself picking up new lessons from those experiences and life, in general. Life is an incredible journey. Keep your eyes open and experience as much as you can while you still can...
Born in Ohio and raised in the northern VA area, my life always made some attachment to art and music. Each of my family members had very different musical tastes and I had a lot of exposure to each of their musical collections which, in total, spanned from one end of the musical spectrum to the other.
In the 80's, I started to discover what my own musical tastes were and they continued to develop well into the 90's. In the early 90's I had my first taste of pure electronically driven music and by the time I was in college, I had grasped a full understanding of techno (edm) and raves. Having my eyes opened to this world I knew what it was I had been missing because it finally completed me. I was so impressed that I felt the need to do for others what had been done for me. Everyone should feel and experience what I felt. What possibly amazed me most of all was it all happened without drugs or alcohol. I should add now that you should do what you want as long as it doesn't hurt others. We all have our closets to fill with skeletons. ;) More of these sorts of thoughts can be found in my blog.
I started dj'ing in '87, more seriously in '94 as djsquelch. I spin and produce all styles of edm including ambient, downtempo, lounge, world, acid jazz, idm, trance, minimal, acid, house, techno, breaks, jungle, dnb, avant-garde, noise, hardcore, happy hardcore, gabber, experimental, industrial, dub, reggae, turntablism, jazz, disco, rock, and spoken word. I started producing in '92 as phase shifts. My equipment includes keyboards, a mac, a pc, a ton of software, several instruments, and random equipment. Music is my passion and I will always be involved with it in some way throughout my life. I hope you will enjoy what I do.
I tend to be pretty quiet, but I warm up quickly to new friends and treat them like we have always known each other.
I'm on myspace: http://www.myspace.com/djsquelch & http://www.myspace.com/djsquelch2 -- the first is my musician page and the second is my personal page. Feel free to add yourself to both! Each account serves a different purpose...

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I run SETI@home because it's a pretty cool idea that that I'm contributing to the possibility of discovering intelligence existing beyond our planet. Who knows, maybe may there is something out there and maybe we should take the time to get acquainted. One never knows until the effort is made...
I think the SETI@home project is probably one of the more efficient ways of determining the existence of extraterrestrial life. I joined the effort in 1999. I still believe in the cause. Until the vastness of space is explored, I cannot presume we are the only life form of significant means.
For a few years, I had discontinued using the software with great reluctance. The newer software hogged my CPU, often causing my computer and programs to crash. the software seems to run more efficiently now, but I notice it still uses the rest of my CPU rather than a fixed percentage as it once had done. This means at times I will have to pause analysis so that I may run other tasks without fault. Unfortunately in my line of work, it is critical that everything run smoothly without a hitch, and with spare CPU cycles. I wish SETI@home would utilize some of its more user-friendly functionality as I am doing a favor for SETI@home. I am in hopes I won't have to discontinue use again as the means of this cause is something in which I believe; it could potentially lead to the betterment of all mankind, perhaps it could be beneficial for whatever may be out there as well...
