Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
Yes, I can not believe that we are alone in the universe. There is too much we do not yet understand to be able to just say "no there isn't any extraterrestrial life".
We will discover this "life" once we learn to live in peace as brothers and sisters. Once we have learned to live with one another.......then will they introduce themselves to us. Tell me? Would you introduce yourself to savage's?
As far as benifits and dangers go........I guess that is all up to us. If we wish to give the impression of a peace loving, law abiding "race" or "species" in the universe, then i see no reason why a highly advanced species would not want to share knowledge and information freely with us. Or we can be preceived as hateful, war mongering clowns and maybe never meet because we pose a threat to their safety or violate everything they believe in. Just also remember......... they are highly advanced.........they would have to be after living so long.......before us.
