Hi, my name is Alex. I'm a 27 years-old programmer / IT specialist from Germany. You may wonder, what my nickname ([STS]LoB]) means: It's the name I use mainly in computer games, but also in other computer and internet related things. [STS] stands for Star Trek Soldiers, which is the online gaming clan I play in. LoB stands for Locutus of Borg (a special character in Star Trek (Captain Jean-Luc Picard when transformed into a Borg Drone)).

| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

As you can see, I am very related to space and science fiction and stuff, and also to computers and technology. This is why SETI@home interested me since the day I first heard about it...
I do believe, that there is extraterrestrial life, or at least was or will be, because our universe is really big enough to have place for more life than those few races on earth ;-)
Unfortunately, it would be a kind of a statistical miracle if we would recognise any extraterrestrial life - but I think it's worth trying it. It's also worth sending a signal from our planet - doesn't matter what, because the "aliens" wouldn't probably even understand what we're saying; the important thing is, that they would be sure, that someone is talking to them...
