Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think extraterrestrial life exists, although not necessarily in the sci-fi
based forms we think of today... meaning, I don't think all "aliens" are green
with no hair and big heads and black eyes.. just as life on earth takes on
many many forms besides humans, so are there in outer space...

The possible benefits are virtually endless, as beings from another world would
have a different knowledgebase than we do so we could cooperate and share
knowledge...

However, the possible pitfalls of course are human's fear of the unknown which
of course would lead possibly to mass hysteria over what may turn out to be
very benevolent creatures, and our government, out of need for power and survival,
would treat aliens with suspicion and contempt simply out of fear.
