| Built 1970 in Bremen, Germany, grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, and returned to Germany after completing my school carreer. It took me ten years to find out that I like computers. Now I am just finished with a vocational training and am IT-specialist specialising in System-Integration (Networking). I hope to find a good job as Systemadministrator some day soon. I came across seti@home in 2001 surfing for ET-stuff and supercomputing. From the pic in my profile one might think I'm some computer freak, but I'm not (there's more maschines behind the whiteboard). I'm just somewhat of a materialist, and my maschines are all that I have - I'm unemployed. Believe it or not I don't have a single game to play - to me they're a waste of precious time. |
| Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |

I run sah on a linuxbox on command line. My current thoughts are that if I manage to build a 'linux from scratch' I could have my 2.8GHz maschine (the silver one - bottom left in the pic) crunch a lot more than 5 to 6 WUs a day. And if I'd leave it on 24/7 instead of 8 to 11, that would increase the process too.
I want results. I strongly believe that we're NOT the only ones of our intellect in this vast space. SAH should be continued until we have positive contact. I think a nice idea for the message-to-send would be a documentary on ants. That resembles us perfectly in every respect, including social behavior and intercultural aspects. |
