Personal background
I am living in Dorset in the UK teaching Geography and ICT. I run our school's website and have always taken an interest in getting computers to do something a little more remarkable than wordprocessing etc.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
To use even a fraction of the computing power sitting around on peoples' desks to work towards a common goal must be seen as remarkable.
While I think that Seti is a bit of a long shot, it is well worth the effort, especially since it is a very cheap way of doing a great deal of computing. Even if Seti does not find ET, the fact that other distributed computing projects are starting to be developed, using Seti as a model, is a big move forward.
