Personal background
I'm a 74year old retired geological oceanographer with a healthy interest in cosmology. I live about 25 miles south of Washington,D.C. in the town of La Plata, MD. I spent a few great years in the US Navy at the end of WWII and followed up with some US Air Force duty during the Korean "police action". I attended the Montana School of Mines for a year, got my undergrad degree from the University of Connecticut, and took graduate work at Louisiana State University. Spent a few years in oil exploration but spent the rest of my career working for the government at the USNaval Oceanographic Office. Have been retired for 25 years.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
As I'm putting down these thoughts I'm looking at the Planetary Society's poster "Is anybody out there" that I have tacked to my wall and I don't see how anybody who has seen that awesome picture can doubt that there isn't intelligent life somewhere out there among all those billions of stars.
