Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I think ET does exist. Humans may find out tomorrow, or in a thousand years. I just hope that we, as a race, are able to be open and accepting of our intrastellar neighbors. The potential benefits and potential dangers even out, in my mind. We might learn things far beyond our wildest dreams, but we might fall back on our deep-rooted xenophobia and ruin our chances. My biggest hope when (not if) we find ET is that the event will make humans the world over look at themselves in a new light of brotherhood, and will stop senseless bloodshed and tyranny.
