Profile: Christiano José Jabur

Personal background
I live in Assis, a small town in the Southeast of Brazil, I'm a 25 year old photographer and a columnist of the website Assis Virtual, on http://www.assisvirtual.com.br/. I'm also a member of the Brazilian Esperanto League (BEL) and the Universal Esperanto Association (UEA). I like watching films, listening to music, surfing the Internet, studying English and Esperanto, reading about UFOs, astronomy and similar subjects, travelling and more.
Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
On December, 2000, after visiting a few sites about SETI and SETI@home, I decided to visit SETI@home official site and download the program.

I decided to run SETI@home because it's been six years since I started reading about extraterrestrials, UFOs, astronomy and all this kind of subjects. I started getting more and more interested on these subjects and, as I always believed on the existence of intelligent life in other planets, I decided to join efforts with other hundreds of thousand of people on the analysis of data from the Arecibo Observatory.

I think I've always believed in extraterestrial intelligence, but only on January, 1995, I started considering as an undeniable fact, when I started reading about UFO sightings in Assis and searching for more information about UFOs, space exploration and similar subjects. I think there can be more than one civilization in other galaxies. I consider that the main point isn't IF they exist, but WHERE they are.

I also think that the main benefits of the discovery of a more advanced civilization from another planet would be getting to know their technology and trying a great exchange of information between us and them. But it can also be danger, because we really don't know what to expect if we really get to find an extraterrestrial intelligence. The main question would be: are they hostiles or not?

But I also think it would be very important to send our own signals so, if there's anyone out there in the same kind of search that were are, the meeting between us and them could happen as soon as possible.
