Personal background |
Clive James once said that 'for every famous person there are a million people who are not'.
I am being honest when I say I am one of those million people who is not famous. However, that does not mean I simply have to sit at home and feel sorry for myself.
I try to contribute to the global society in everyway I can. I try to remain environmentally friendly, open minded and tolerant of others. I try to share the vision of those who see the world as more than just a planet on which we live and I try to space as a place of potential rather that just "space".

Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home |
I love the idea of sitting under the stars on a clear night wondering whether someone or something is looking back at me. I'd like to think that there are other civilizatons out there who share the same dreams that we do, have the same problems we do, hope for the future as we do.
I think SETI should actively agitate within the UN in order to make it an international project. Humanity has become more and more self-absorbed as of late. We need a project or a dream that will have people looking out and up rather than down and in.
I guess this is why I decided to try SETI. It came as a free screensaver on a DEMO disk from a local computer magazine. Rather than having pictures of naked women cavorting around my screen or pictures of fast cars I thought I'd have my computer do something productive during idle periods. I am therefore proud to announce that my humble little PC has been crunching away for over 600 hours trying to find to first, tentative sign of life from the stars.
