Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
My opinions:
1. Considering how vast the universe is,it seems impossible that life is confined only to Earth. With recent findings demonstrating how adaptable life is to extreme environments, it most certainly must exist elsewhere.
2. We should continue to search for alien signals and if any are found, study them to attempt to decipher any message or information contained therein. Because alien intelligences probably do not share our value systems, it would be best to keep a low profile and exercise caution before attempting to contact them directly, should we be fortunate enough to find them.
3. I want to assist in some way towards proving life exists elsewhere, and to exploring the fundamental laws of time and space. SETI gives me the opportunity to feel that I am making some contribution in achieving these goals.
