Thoughts about SETI and SETI@home
I believe that life must exist somewhere else in the universe but we may never find it. The number of stars and galaxies is so large that somewhere there must be another planet that has life of some kind. The distances between us and those other planets may make it impossible for us to ever find one of them. The SETI project is worth the effort even if it is likely to fail in its primary mission. Like the space program, the spin-off benefits of SETI could far outweigh the intended benefits.
